Welcome to Foleyverse, just a few things as to how things are done.
1)First and foremost this is a fan-fiction site where we get to send our favorite heroes off on the adventures that we want to see. While everything on here does not have to match up with canon in the "official" publications, they do need to match up with the continuity here on the site. So if your writing, say, Captain America, and he is in the middle of an adventure with the Avengers and then want to start a storyline where is is solo, you need to put some sort of disclaimer up indicating whether the story happens before or after the Avengers story.
2) Length of post: I for one can be something of a windbag when it comes to posts, and I apologize in advance. Sometimes to set up the next scene/person a long post is needed. However just a sentence or two is way way too short and really does nothing to help or further the story. And it's just plain insulting to the writers who take the time to craft out a proper post. General rule of thumb is anywhere between a 3.8 paragraph to three or four paragraphs. Anymore then that try and split it between two or more posts.
3)Another general rule of thumb is that if you can't say it on TV, don't say it on here. Overuse of profanity will result in censorship (depending on the severity of the act and the number times the particular poster has been warned before). Now I don't like censorship in any form so please don't make me use it.
4)Along the lines of the prior rules, keep it clean. Anything X-rated or overly sleazily post will be deleted. Should the poster repeat the offense after that then that poster will have their membership canceled. Period, end of story, good-bye.
5)I love seeing people create their own characters. If a poster does this, then that character is that poster's property and only that poster can use that character unless otherwise given permission to another poster. This permission needs to be noted in the thread.
6)If a poster is using an established character (i.e. Batman, Captain America, Splinter, etc.) and wants to be the only one using that character then all he/she has to do is contact me (or the board moderator if there is one listed) and if no one else has claim to it then the poster will be given control of the character and the rules above applies. Otherwise the character is free for anyone to use as needed.
7)From time to time a cast of characters will be listed for a storyline. Any poster may choose off this list and use it during the storyline, just that storyline however, unless the poster follows the procedure in the previous rule.
8)If there is a moderator for a board, then that person is running the said board in my place. The moderator is often a person that has experience in this sort of thing and will be in all purposes speaking for me. Their decisions are final. While I will hear any complaints of any poster, I will question any poster that comes running to me every time the moderator makes a ruling that he/she does not like.
9)Like I said before I am big on free speech and such and I will let any poster start a story anyway they like, (within reason of course). That being said I would like for a poster to send me just a brief outline of the story that they have in mind so I can help keep the story from spinning out of control, (and going on and on with out any real purpose). This isn't mandatory, but it is helpful. If the poster who starts a thread doesn't have a total idea on ending a story that's fine, I can spindoctor anything.
10)In regards for rule 9: If you haven't sent me a plot, and the thread isn't going anywhere, I WILL spindoctor it. If I am unable to do so then I will end the thread and lock it down. Fair warning.
Please, have fun. Write well. If you have any questions, contact me anytime in my inbox and I will get back to you as soon as i can.
